Valentine's Day Party

Dear First Grade Families,

Our Valentine’s Day Party will be on Tuesday, February 14. The party will from 12:30-1:30. Your child may bring valentines for the class. Please have your child sign his or her name on the valentine and write the receiving child’s name on the outside of the envelope. The children will have practice writing and reading their classmates’ names as they prepare and deliver the cards.
We will make individual valentine containers here at school for the students to put the cards in. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Naatjes

Field Trip Thursday

Dear Parents,
The first graders will be studying about the earth and its three components: Air, land, and water this semester. We have already begun on study on water. To help students understand some of the properties of water, we will be taking a field trip to the Nature Center. Barbara Tagami, the County Naturalist, & Charles Vigdal, have planned some fun activities for the students. We may be going out on a pond, if safe, so please have your child bring their winter gear-snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, and coat.
Our class will be going on Thursday. You may wish to visit with your child about this trip. We will be leaving at about 12:30 and return at 2:15.

Sincerely,
First Grade Teachers

Happy Holidays

I wanted to take a little time to wish everyone a very Happy Holidays! It is a joy to be able to share each and everyday with your child. I am very luck to have such as fantastic 1st grade class. I love each of them dearly. We have made so much growth from the beginning of the year until now. It is truly unbelievable. I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for our classroom. I know that we will continue to make huge gains.

I also wanted to thank everyone for all that you do for our classroom. I am just as lucky to have you as parents as I am to have your children in my classroom. Support at home is very important for students to be successful. Without your loving and caring support at home they wouldn't be making the growth that they have made.

Thank you to all my 1st grade families. Enjoy the time off with your kids. I can't wait to see them back here on January 3rd! It will be fun to hear all about their break!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
